#RealPost started three years ago when everything in my life had come to a breaking point. It was a decision that changed everything.

 

I had been suppressing my mental health issues, secretly struggling with performance anxiety and an eventual episode of depression after my first two seasons of college volleyball.

 

I was seeking so much validation through social media, trying to assure everyone that through fake smiles and posed pictures I was doing great.

 

And I was putting immense amounts of pressure on myself to get the “perfect body,” which led to binge eating and very unhealthy relationship with myself.

 

Following a ridiculous bikini photoshoot I forced my Mom to take of me at the beach, my brother said something to me, something I was finally ready to hear...

 

“WHY do you want to post that?”

 

I took the question to heart, and I had an epiphany about what was truly important in life, and who I truly wanted to be.

 

That next day came the first #RealPost, no filters, no fakeness, no need to be anything but myself. With this new sense of empowerment came the desire to share my truth... eventually leading to the TED Talk, Real Pod, and The Hidden Opponent.
